Career Options of Citrus County
We are a non-profit organization contracted with the Florida Vocational Rehabilitation to assist disabled individuals to obtain successful employment outcomes. We strive to learn about each one of the consumers we work with and provide one-on-one training. Our mission is to ensure that our consumers have the support and resources to engage in the employment process, transition into employment, and retain the position where the consumer fills a beneficial role to the employer and for themselves. EMPLOYMENT SERVICES ​
SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT
Employment Services assist individuals with a disability to obtain or maintain competitive integrated employment, consistent with the unique strengths, abilities, interests, and informed choice of the individual.​
Supported employments relates to competitive integrated employment which includes customized employment, or employment in an integrated work setting. An individual with a most significant disability is able to work in an integrated environment that is individualized, and customized, and is consistent with the unique strengths, abilities, and interests of the individual.
OJT
ON-THE-JOB-TRAINING
OJT provides a time-limited individual skill acquisition that can be learned on the job. The OJT occurs in an integrated, community-based employment setting where most of the employees do not have disabilities. The individual will be paid no less than minimum wage and interacts with individuals without disabilities.
DISCOVERY​
Discovery aka "Discovering Your Personal Genius" replaces traditional assessments and other norm-referenced vocational evaluations or psychometric approaches. This service is a great way to learn about the individual. Discovery begins with a face-to-face meeting inside the individual's home, where the Discovery Specialist makes observations of the individual's environment and daily routines. The Discovery Specialist continues to meet with the individual in creative multiple activities within the individual's interests to explore their strengths and abilities. This information is compiled to create a detailed analysis to determine the ideal work environment for the individual.
